Midlands Fretted Orchestra are delighted to announce their recent successes at the British BMG Federation Rally 2008, held on 2nd March in Glasgow.

MFO beat some five other orchestras to First Place and were awarded the coveted and highly prized Federation Cup for Musicianship.

In addition, the following MFO members scooped first places in individual contests;

Andrew Taysum won The Morris Dolby Challenge Cup for players under 14 years of age & The Federation Cup for classical guitar solo;

Richard Shearing won The E.J Tyrell Cup for fretted instrument composition;

Richard Shearing & Gethin Davies won The Clifford Essex London Club Cup for duos;

 Gethin Davies won The H. Lambert Veterans Cup.

MFO will host 2010 BMG Federation Rally

The Committee of The British Banjo Mandolin & Guitar Federation have confirmed that they have invited MFO to host the next rally to be held in Spring 2010. Events will include concerts, workshops, converging of fretted orchestras and ensembles and the competitions. All details are yet to be confirmed, so watch this space regularly for news of this exciting event!
